Director, Enterprise Project Management Office - Pottsville, PA

We are currently seeking a Director, Enterprise Project Management Office to join our Information Technology Team at our Pottsville, PA Home Office. The Director, Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) is responsible for on-time, in-budget delivery of business critical projects defined in the Empire Education Group (EEG) strategic plan, and requested by Leadership based on the demands of an evolving business model. The Director, EPMO, acquires resources and coordinates the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to successfully plan, document, execute and QA enterprise-wide projects and change management. In this role you may be called upon to lead and motivate assigned Project Managers, the Knowledgebase Administrator and key stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of all projects. Further, the Director is responsible for the creation, ongoing development and administration of the enterprise knowledgebase (a.k.a., operating manual), which serves as the repository for all workflows, business rules and policy that fuel EEG operations. The Director will maintain in frequent contact with all levels of management; as a thought leader and to provide project portfolio level reporting/updates to EEG leadership.

Essential Functions:
  • Define, communicate, and execute the vision and strategies for effective project management across the enterprise
  • Lead project work plan development, establish project communication and risk management plans
  • As required, supervise and lead assigned Enterprise Project Managers and support staff
  • Provide oversight and guidance to project team members for the effective and timely execution of projects
  • Facilitate governance for the project portfolio and each individual project
  • Provide periodic review of team member performance using both formal and
  • Mentor team members in PMO and Knowledge Centered-Service (KCS) standards
  • Implement Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) software and resource management tools
  • Define project methodologies, oversight and change management protocol
  • Oversee/Develop enterprise-wide knowledgebase content, including documentation of work streams and change management
  • Keep leadership informed of changes related to new and ongoing projects within the organization
  • Develop and deliver training instilling concepts and best practices inherit to PMI and global industries
  • Deliver engaging, informative and well-organized presentations
  • Proactively lead efforts in continuous improvement (e.g., efficiency and effectiveness) within the PMO and across the organization
  • Role model the EEG Core Purpose and Values and meet professional obligations through efficient work habits
Experience:
  • Five years of experience building and leading all aspects of a high performing PMO
  • Ability to manage multiple enterprise level/high traffic projects, meet deadlines, interface with different company business units
  • Demonstrable needs-based interviewing skills with individuals and groups
  • Ability to critically evaluate information from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts,
  • Decompose high level information into details and abstract low-level information to a more general understanding
  • In-depth understanding of contemporary requirements elicitation, analysis, specification, verification, and PM practices
  • Proven skills in the effective use of Microsoft Project, Visio & Project Server
  • Excellent understanding of project management concepts around waterfall and agile management
  • Ability to work with and through people to establish goals, objectives, and action plans
  • Strong general business acumen, including financial management skills
  • Proven leadership capabilities, strong judgment, and the ability to collaborate
Education/Licensure/Certification:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Education or Information Systems; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Project Management Professional certification required
