Evolved Strategic SATCOM (ESS) program office is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Systems Director to work within an integrated program office of Air Force, Aerospace, SE&I, SETA, and contractors. The Systems Director is responsible for leading Aerospace efforts to support the USSF Materiel Leader responsible for the ESS space segment within the Strategic Communication Systems sub-division. We are looking for someone with technical and leadership skills to champion innovation on this fast moving and high-profile program. Candidate will apply leadership and space system expertise to ensure needed capabilities are translated and applied to acquisition development efforts, promoting integration of pioneering technology, shared services, and rapid acquisition efficiencies.
Work Model: Classified work, but one day per week telecommuting may be possible depending on customer needs and management approval.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Assist the USSF in establishing technical content, programmatic planning, and implementing a successful acquisition that meets warfighting needs for strategic communications
  • Lead, develop, and maintain a strong team of highly talented staff and driving innovation into the program
  • Collaborate with other elements of the program, cross organizations, and stakeholders to anticipate problems and provide solutions ahead of the need
  • Coordinate and prioritize work activities and balance resources to ensure completion within cost and schedule
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with customer, leadership, contractors, ETG and other supporting UARCs and SE&I contractors
  • Ensure quality of technical products meets management and customer needs
  • Provide insight to Aerospace leadership and the customer on system risks, issues, opportunities, and associated mitigation strategies
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical subject area from a recognized institution
  • 12 or more years of relevant scientific/engineering experience in complex space systems
  • Proficiency to think strategically and set measurable tactical goals for the entire team.
  • Capacity to balance technical detail and broader programmatic perspectives
  • History of proactive problem solving ahead of need with new directions and concepts
  • Ability to convey clearly, concisely crafted ideas that resonate in our company and the space enterprise
  • Capability to operate with agility in high intensity and fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities and demanding customer
  • Space acquisition and development experience for government programs
  • Some travel is required
  • Current top-secret clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government; U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Masters or PhD degree in engineering, computer science, or related technical field
  • Technical expertise in multiple fields relevant to communication systems design, systems engineering and architectures, and application of digital engineering concepts
  • Knowledge of military SATCOM missions, system designs, and operations
  • Experience with system-level integration of complex space systems, including supporting government as System Integrator
  • Working knowledge of Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) skills and capabilities
  • Budget management experience

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
