Loudoun County Youth Shelter is looking for Direct Care Counselors to work directly with at risk youth. Overnight shifts available are: Sunday 9pm-9am, Monday 11:45pm-9:00am, Tuesday 11:45pm-9:00am and Wednesday 11:45pm-9:00am OR Wednesday 11:45pm-9:00am , Thursday 11:45pm-9:00am , Friday 11:45pm-9:00am and Saturday (9pm-9am)

Job Description: Supervise the daily activities of youth, provide ongoing support and guidance, and be a positive role model. Facilitate youth development, growth and improvement in the areas of personal responsibility, pro-social skills, community living and positive behavior. The Direct Care Counselors will spend at least 80 percent of their time working directly with youth in a residential environment providing supervision of the youth and accountability for them at all times. Counselors will plan and implement daily activities and follow the daily schedule and routines as assigned. Provide informal counseling to youth to discuss interpersonal issues, help them develop goals and address their concerns. Participate in and/or facilitate groups as needed. Prepare summaries of youth behavior reports. Participate in staff training and monthly staff meetings. Provide transportation to youth in agency vehicles as necessary. Perform physical intervention as needed in the event of a crisis. Comply with all agency policies and procedures.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field preferred. Experience working with youth is preferred. Valid driver's license and good driving record required. Excellent verbal and written communications skills a must. Superior interpersonal skills and ability to function as part of a team is required. Must be able to read and speak English--bi-lingual preferred.

Starting salary $17/HR based on education and experience. 40 hour positions eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401 K/retirement, paid time off and tuition reimbursement.
