About this position
Assists clinical dietitians, dietetic technicians, Maple Grove Hospital (MGH) dietary associates, and peers in meeting the Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) needs of age-varied customer populations. Follows the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics MNT guidelines, organizational policies and procedures, and complies with regulatory requirements of the department when providing customer care. Assists departmental financial team with departmental charges including billing customers for enteral feedings/formulas and scheduling of meetings. Serves as a communication link between departments including MGH food service staff and diet office. Functions in a cost effective manner. Works as an interdisciplinary team member in order to attain goals of the department and mission of North Memorial.
What we’ll expect from you
- Collaborates with clinical dietitians, dietetic technicians, and MGH dietry associates regarding customers' diets, enteral feedings, supplements, and nourishments.
- Reviews and corrects behavioral health unit customer menus selections according to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) nutrition parameters and departmental guidelines.
- Enters and utilizes computer information according to department protocols and timelines.
- Communicates/participates in planning customer services with North Memorial and MGH clinical teams, supervisors, and administrative staff regarding menus, tray ticket problems, enteral feedings, nourishment distribution, floor stock supplies, bereavement carts and International Health Services program requests.
- Coordinates duties relevant to Room Service and behavioral health unit customer communication system, clinical nutrition documentation and relevant department record keeping.
- Completes enteral nutrition rounds, determines daily product needs, and prepares enteral feedings for delivery by dietary aides.
- Utilizes Epic tools to calculate and bill enteral feedings via Epic Hospital Account Maintenance System.
- Daily enters floor stock and transfers charges for the weekly financial system and departmental billing.
- Assists team with the room scheduling and catering. Routinely communicates with hospital departments when scheduling changes are needed.
- Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals.

Education
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- Graduate of an accredited Dietetic Technician program or 2+ years of work experience in food service with a concentration in nutrition/diets preferred
- Graduate of a dietary manager's program will be considered
- Current membership in related professional organization desirable.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Identify and discuss with customers the appropriate food and beverages when assisting with menu and snack selections.
- Accurately correct menus according to nutritional restrictions.
- Enter data on computers utilizing the keyboard and mouse.

- Registered Dietetic Technician or obtain within one year of employment

Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
