Responsibilities and Duties:
Perform safety maintenance for fleet vehicles, compliant with local, state, federal and company policies
Execute all mechanical repairs, maintenance and rebuilds of heavy-duty trucks and other related equipment
Inspect belts, hoses, steering systems, brakes, fuel systems, wheel bearings and other potential troublesome areas for any additional repairs that may be needed
Check, fill and/or change appropriate fluids for all vehicle parts and check/change filters
Inspect and repair fleet vehicle support systems, such as electrical air and brakes
Warrant all safety devices on vehicles are in good working order
Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure they are properly performing
Perform all levels of Preventative Maintenance Inspections and repairs
Inspect, test and listen to defective equipment using testing equipment, such as laptops and temperature and pressure gauges
Identify warranty repairs and follow up to ensure payments are made
Document all work on orders
Keep work area clean and safe
Perform other repairs and duties, as assigned
Must be available Monday - Friday from 7:00am - 4:00pm. On-call and road calls, as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
Must be A/C certified and have all the tools necessary to administer repairs
College degree or certificate/degree in Automotive Mechanic or Automotive Technology training from a trade school preferred
3 - 5 years experience in heavy-duty diesel truck repair
Proficient in break work, tire work, electrical work and welding
Advanced knowledge of automotive components and systems
Ability to drive and service company vehicles, when needed
Possess your own tools, scanner and A/C machine
Must be able to lift and carry weights exceeding 50 pounds
Legally eligible to work in the United States
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have a valid MD driver’s license, CDL with P & Airbrake endorsements
Possess a valid DOT medical card or able to obtain one prior to hire
Must be able to read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand and respond to questions
Must have basic computer skills
