Job Description
The Development Associate will work with the Advancement team on coordinating strategies to increase revenue and participation in support of the School of Information Studies (iSchool). This role will support the Advancement function to bring creative, strategic, data-driven decision making, and support for annual initiatives. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to supporting annual fund solicitation, supporting administration of scholarships supported by gifts to the iSchool, and act as a point person for alumni engagement.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience in fundraising and/or alumni engagement.

Job Specific Qualifications
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written is required.
  • Ability to handle analysis of data including software such as Excel.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing situations as well as operate as part of a team.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Management experience.

Responsibilities
Coordinate strategies to increase revenue and participation in support of the School of Information Studies (iSchool). This role is a pivotal position within the Advancement function to bring creativity, strategic data-driven decision making, and support for annual initiatives.

Act as a point person for alumni engagement, including use of communication tools. Drive innovative programming with a focus on collaborative efforts with the School’s Career Services Office, Enrollment Management, and Student Services, as well as the University’s Office of Alumni Engagement. Serve as the iSchool’s representative for quarterly OAE and Orange Central meetings. Identify key ways to partner with career services for on campus and off campus recruiting, providing insight and strategy to engage and cultivate promising alumni. Work with Central Advancement and Office of Alumni Engagement to coordinate efforts to promote and record alumni events and attendees. Attend and manage local, regional, and national events on behalf of the School when necessary.

Coordinate the design and printing of annual fund solicitations materials, including list retrieval from central development and advancement databases. Identify lapsed, lower-level annual fund donors to re-solicit and increase annual giving participation. Identify new constituents that have capacity/inclination to move to the lead annual level and beyond. Collaborate with central advancement colleagues on social crowd-funding campaigns and large-scale marketing efforts.

Collaborate with the Dean’s Administrative Assistant to coordinate bi-annual Advisory Board meetings. Prepare materials for meetings, communicate with chair of board, coordinate faculty and student and guest speakers, and support the arrangement of meeting logistics both on campus and locations off-campus.

Support the administration process for scholarships supported by gifts to the School: confirm gift commitments and fund balances in collaboration with the Director of Finance and Administration, communicate with recipients to obtain thank you letters and coordinate personal meetings between the donor and recipient when appropriate and desired by both parties, assist in contributing to content development for stories of scholarship donors and recipients for iSchool publications and website.
