What You'll Do

We are looking for a developer advocate who will focus on enterprise networking and security, such as DNA Center, SD-WAN, Firewall Management Center, and SecureX.

You will actively engage internally and externally to guide the developer experience in support of the communities automating with enterprise networking and security platforms. You will inspire developers to build with Cisco platforms. You will be an advocate for the Developer inside Cisco by engaging those external communities, creating content inspired by their needs/wants, sharing that insight with our product teams, with an end goal of improving the developer experience. You will present technical talks at conferences, meetups, customer workshops and virtual events. You will create sample code, use cases, and presentations to drive Cisco API and platform adoption.

Who you'll work with

Cisco Developer Relations is an organization within Cisco focused on driving developer strategy and programs across the company. We combine technical skills with people skills to work with both application developers and infrastructure developers. We focus on driving adoption of Cisco platforms and technologies with developers, DevOps, SRE and infrastructure engineers. We engage with the external community through speaking engagements, educational events, code samples, videos, podcasts, community forums, social (and other) media. On the infrastructure side we code in Python (mostly), and we learn and experiment with new technologies to find new ways to build and manage secure, efficient, and scalable infrastructure. We are seeking a technically minded individual who can discover and innovate in this space, and who will inspire, and cultivate a community around security orchestration and automation solutions.

Who you are

You are an engineer who wants to explore how APIs, code, and automation can make the network more efficient, secure, and scalable. You love to learn new technologies, to code, and to tinker. You excel at explaining new concepts in simple terms that communicate both technical and business value propositions. You are active in the digital community and in your local tech community. You think hard about hard problems and understand the challenges that automation engineers are solving.

Experience we'd strongly prefer you to have:

  • Hands-on expertise with technologies including Cisco DNA Center, Catalyst and IOS-XE, SD-WAN, Cisco ISE, Firewall Management Center, SecureX, GitHub, CI/CD tools, Python, Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, Kubernetes (k8s).
  • Experience in working across organizational boundaries to achieve success.
  • Demonstrated success with cultivating developer communities.
  • Software development experience and familiarity with the use of APIs and SDKs.
  • The ability, drive, focus and independence to work in a remote setting without direct oversight

Experience that would be excellent to have:

  • Cisco DevNet Associate, Cisco DevNet Professional and/or Cisco Certified DevNet Specialist
  • Experience writing clear and concise developer documentation and tutorials
  • Able to handle multiple projects and goals
  • Have worked in Agile environments or teams

#WeAreCisco. We are all unique, but collectively we bring our talents to work as a team, to develop innovative technology and power a more inclusive, digital future for everyone. How do we do it? Well, for starters – with people like you!
Nearly every internet connection around the world touches Cisco. We’re the Internet’s optimists. Our technology makes sure the data travelling at light speed across connections does so securely, yet it’s not what we make but what we make happen which marks us out. We’re helping those who work in the health service to connect with patients and each other; schools, colleges, and universities to teach in even the most challenging of times. We’re helping businesses of all shapes and size to connect with their employees and customers in new ways, providing people with access to the digital skills they need and connecting the most remote parts of the world – whether through 5G, or otherwise.
We tackle whatever challenges come our way. We have each other’s backs, we recognize our accomplishments, and we grow together. We celebrate and support one another – from big and small things in life to big career moments. And giving back is in our DNA (we get 10 days off each year to do just that).
We know that powering an inclusive future starts with us. Because without diversity and a dedication to equality, there is no moving forward. Our 30 Inclusive Communities, that bring people together around commonalities or passions, are leading the way. Together we’re committed to learning, listening, caring for our communities, whilst supporting the most vulnerable with a collective effort to make this world a better place either with technology, or through our actions.
So, you have colorful hair? Don’t care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That’s cool. Pop culture geek? Many of us are. Passion for technology and world changing? Be you, with us! #WeAreCisco
