Demo Center Technologist

As Demo Center Technologist, you will work with our best in class colleagues across the Marel organization in pursuit of our common goals and vision. You will be part of a global marketing team supporting international marketing with a primary focus on demonstrating our equipment, conducting tests and testing and developing existing and new recipes.

Our Innovation (Demo) Center in Des Moines is a highly sales driven, technical testing area used for sales sample product production, equipment demonstrations, equipment research, and equipment training. The Innovation (Demo) Center is set up to be able to support our customers with product and process development.

The Demo Center Employee’s responsibility is to demonstrate our equipment, conduct tests and support customers with product and process development. In this role, you will be performing extensive demonstrations in close collaboration with all relevant internal stakeholders such as; product groups, industries, regions and corporate departments to promote and build relationships.

What you’ll be doing

Key elements of your role include:

• Learn and operate all Marel equipment and the science behind the equipment. Specialization in a Marel product line may occur during the course of employment.
• Collect and maintain project data.
• Maintain and create relationships with our sales team and customers.
• Own, plan, set up and perform demos and food sampling for customers in the Demo Center.
• Plan and execute trainings and events for Marel’s various Demo Centers.
• Communicate efficiently with customer during demos. Keep them apprised of changes to the production process during the sale. Assist and train customers and colleagues regarding the equipment, in addition to troubleshooting.
• Be part of a global Marel food technology knowledge group.
• Assist in the continuous improvement of the Demo Center and customers’ experiences.

What we’re looking for

• Have an inspiring and motivating personality and enjoy being a part of a team.
• Have knowledge of raw materials and consumables, handling machines and hygiene.
• Technical competence, both in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering.
• A team player with a positive attitude, willing to get involved in the wider activities of the event and demo centers team and the company and support colleagues.
• Flexible and independent with a strong hands-on mentality.
• Be an effective communicator, well organized and capable of drawing relevant insights aimed at meeting the customer´s expectations
• Bachelor’s Degree in animal science, food science, technical/engineering or other relevant discipline is required.
• Experience with and comfort working in multi-cultural, multi-discipline organization is an advantage.
• Experience in using Microsoft Office for tracking, reporting, scheduling, and formulation purposes.
