Our hybrid workplace model offers the freedom to work fully remote or occasionally in one of our offices. This is a remote position with a hybrid option for candidates based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

How you’ll contribute:
As a Data Governance & Quality Manager you’ll be responsible for establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards, and practices, both at the department and functional areas level, to achieve the required level of consistency, quality, and protection to meet overall business needs. The role will serve as the first point of escalation for governance, data quality and protection issues. The Data Governance & Quality Manager will collaborate with departmental leadership to identify data governance and data quality needs, improve the quality and value of core data assets, propose, and manage data governance policies and procedures, respond to regulatory protection requirements as well as support Company’s strategic requirements.

In this role, you’ll get to:
  • Maintain, grow, and modify as needed an enterprise-wide data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and trust through modifications to organization behavior, policies and standards, governance metrics, processes, and related tools
  • Identify and deliver Data Governance, Management and Data Quality capabilities utilizing appropriate integration strategies
  • Drive adherence and understanding of data governance and quality policies for onboarding data subject areas with clear and data ownership
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of data governance, access rights, privacy, and security in a regulatory environment and implement governance strategies, process design in partnership with IT, architecture, and other stakeholder teams
  • Create and maintain data governance policies, playbook(s), processes, and procedures for guiding various data management processes, including the adoption of data security and privacy, data quality practices, and data dissemination activities
  • With Business partners, drive the collection and maintenance of key business metadata including data definitions; rules; lineage; data lifecycle; security; privacy; and process, organization, location, and application models.
  • Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business quality requirements are clearly defined, communicated, well understood, and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning
  • Socialize the value of the Data Governance program including benefits for stakeholders; rules for engagement; and the enforcement of data policies and standards with operational procedures and governed solutions.
  • In conjunction with the IT, provide progress reports to the Executive Sponsor Group and oversee periodic updates to the data governance and data quality roadmap
  • Assist with preparation of material for regular core team and key governance forums (e.g., Enterprise Data Governance Steering Committee, Data Steward Council) to review progress and initiatives with key constituents
  • Liaison to the enterprise Data Governance councils and subcommittees to:
o Work with the Data Strategy and Governance leadership team on presentations and the status of domain-specific action items to the Data Governance Leadership Council.
o Provide input to data policy and standards; data governance priorities; change management strategies and communication plans; and to the future composition, direction, and roles of the data governance organizational framework
  • Partner with IT and the business to build consensus across business units to ensure consistent business definitions, accountability for owner/stewardship, transparency to business and data quality rules and agreed upon quality metrics
  • Lead and mentor a small team of Data Governance and Data Quality associates
  • Provide coaching and training to associates on the team
  • Manage associate’s performance, annual review, and progression
  • Work collaboratively in the business area/data subject area by continually measuring performance to data governance and data stewardship KPI’s (e.g., data quality) and facilitate methods to address exceptions to predetermined thresholds, monitoring through completion
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for Data Quality discovery, profiling, and ongoing control solutions. Support implementation of solutions
  • Partner with business stakeholders to drive focus on prioritization of Data Quality efforts-manage timely execution of resolutions, escalate delays and obstacles/roadblocks to business control forums
  • Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business quality requirements are clearly defined, communicated, well understood, and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning
  • Assists in the remediation of Audit and Regulatory feedback on the data quality program
We’re looking for people who have:
  • Prior data governance and/or data quality focused technology experience
  • Demonstrated ability to run large scale, highly visible programs with responsibility for multiple project teams
  • Proven ability to manage a small team
  • Self-starter, ability to bridge organizational gaps, move projects at a steady pace, and deliver results
  • Interest in going beyond the obvious, delving into the source, the definition, philosophy, and foundational roots of a data element to create information. Proven ability to solve challenging problems and manage projects through to value creation
  • Ability to break down complexity and chart a course through ambiguity
  • Experience delivering solutions through data strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to be a change agent, embracing change and bringing others along
  • Collaborative team player orientation towards work relationships, strong culture awareness
  • Demonstrated experience building successful relationships, and collaboration, with a wide variety of internal stakeholders at all levels
  • Understanding of relational databases with experience using SQL techniques
  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices
  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
  • Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
  • Knowledge of data management concepts including modeling, quality, control frameworks, governance, master data management, metadata management, etc.
  • Experience with data governance, data quality, and data catalog tools
  • Flexible team player with proven track record driving and delivering successful technology solutions
  • Influences decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization
  • Experience in performing data profiling, data mapping, data validation, data manipulation, data analysis
