The Delaware Adolescent Program, Inc. (DAPI) was founded in 1968 in New Castle County to afford pregnant teenagers a means by which to continue their education and receive prenatal care. The program became a national model and provided vital support to students when directed to leave their home schools when they became pregnant. The program quickly expanded across the state and continues to serve hundreds of girls yearly in our New Castle, Kent, and Sussex County Centers. Our AmeriCorps Team will include (3) part-time Mentor/Volunteer Liaisons, one in each county in Delaware. The Mentor/Volunteer Liaisons are a Three-Quarter Time position, requiring 1200 service hours by August 31, 2023, to receive a total Education Award. The members will attend the AmeriCorps sponsored orientation, training, and events as required, which can be virtual or at locations in Delaware. Members may be required to attend meetings and events in other DAPI County Centers occasionally and event locations. Attendancece at these meetings, events, direction, and exercise is credited to service hours. Benefits Upon Completion of Service: A Segal AmeriCorps Education Award for individuals who complete a term of service and can be used to pay for a range of educational expenses, like repaying qualified student loans or future tuition payments. Members can earn up to two full Education Awards with multiple service terms. The minimum-time award for this contract period is $13,983 upon the completion of 1200 service hours by August 31, 2023. AmeriCorps alumni can leverage the Employers of National Service network, which connects you with hundreds of employers from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors who are committed to hiring alumni AmeriCorps alumni receive access to special benefits and resources. For example, many colleges and universities match the Education Award and offer additional AmeriCorps scholarships.

Member Duties : •Connects with the Program Coordinator regarding possible recruitment strategies for new or returning mentors/volunteers. •Implements a timeline for orientation of volunteers and matching them with students. •Meets with the Program Coordinator weekly regarding tasks, progress, challenges, and timeline updates. •Coordinates and implements Mentor/Mentee activities. •Follows up with missing mentors/volunteers. •Secures new mentors from the county assigned. •Provides presentations on the program and other program services to prospective mentors/volunteers as directed. • Contacts organizations and businesses for volunteers in the assigned county as requested by a director. •Attends staff meetings as much as possible and completes necessary documentation regarding student interactions and mentors/volunteers. •Maintains documentation and tracks program deliverables for bi-monthly reporting. •Performs other duties as requested.
