Position Function and Duties

The Customer Service Team works to advance the ideals of the Clerk’s Office by acting as a conduit between court participants, judges, attorneys and entities of local government. This team is responsible for receiving and process incoming customer requests including the payment of fines, purchasing copies and filing documents for new and existing cases. The Customer Service Team also handles deposits, bonds, a call center, all fiscal operations, and the Clerk’s Self Help Center.

Courts Customer Service
The Customer Service Clerks are broken into two teams, Criminal and Civil. The Criminal Customer Service Team collects Traffic, Ordinances, Criminal Traffic, Criminal Juvenile, Felony and Misdemeanor fines. They also clear driving record suspensions (based on payments), accept school completion documents, and other judicial information requests. The Civil team collects Small Claims, Probate, Tax Deed, Foreclosure, Family, and Guardianship, Appeals, Mental Health, County Civil, Circuit Civil and Dependency fees. Clerks from both teams prepare and process necessary invoices. The Team answers telephone inquiries, such as questions regarding court dates, payments and school options, bonds, filing fees, jury, and all civil matters. The Customer Service Team also oversees the Linda Doggett Self Help Center that opened its door to the public in March, 2018.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two year of clerical experience, or any combination education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties
  • Two year of customer service required
  • Cash handling experience preferred
  • Accurate keyboarding and data entry skills required
  • Proficiency in business English and business math required
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook and Word preferred

  • A strong work ethic and professional demeanor are required
  • Use tact in sensitive situations, and present and maintain a courteous attitude at all times
  • Work with moderate supervision

  • Ability to work extended hours required

Supplemental Information

This position is scheduled to work Monday though Friday, between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm.

Physical Requirements:

  • Office: Majority of the time is spent sitting at the computer, remainder of the time is spent assisting in other functions
  • Work from Home (if applicable): Majority of the time is spent sitting at the computer
  • This position requires clear verbal interaction with employees, the public and agencies
  • This position may require bending and reaching
  • This position may require going to other departments and/or offices on different floors and/or buildings throughout the day
  • Occasional travel between Ft. Myers and Cape Coral offices
  • This position may require occasional travel to other sites to review products, or attend meetings, seminars or classes
  • Ability to use standard office equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
