Job Summary: As a Customer Engineer, the primary responsibility is to provide technical support to our Google Maps and Cloud customers, master the Google Maps Platform, validate customer responses through working code and contribute findings to Google Team’s knowledge base. The CE I will consult with more senior CEs on an as-needed basis. They will interface with Woolpert and Google® Maps Platform & Google Cloud Platforms clients, from initial intake through deployment phases, creating proof-of-concepts using a variety of Google, 3rd Party commercial, and open-source tools. You will introduce a modern approach to productivity and product delivery to those customers. Working with Field Sales Representatives, Woolpert subject matter experts, and Account Managers, they will design and build prototypes, typically using Google products and services. They will successfully deliver best-in-class platforms for our clients and affect change throughout their enterprises. A Customer Engineer is both a technical subject matter expert, and creative advocate for customer-centric solutions.
Responsibilities:
Conduct interactive sessions for troubleshooting problems, recommending best practices, and technical Q&A.
Provide technical support to customer questions in our ticketing system, via email and on interactive calls.
Create and maintain tech support articles in our knowledge base.
Consult with new and existing customers on business and technical requirements, with a focus on Cloud solutions (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, hybrid Cloud). This includes developing Cloud resource usage estimates-and budgets-for customers.
Build or support rapid proof-of-concepts and proof of value experiments.
Deploy software and solutions to cloud infrastructure in a repeatable way.
Minimum Requirements:
BS in Computer Science or similar field or 2+ years experience working as a software engineer.
Experience building and deploying production-grade solutions in a Cloud environment such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or similar.
Proficient in at least one of: Java, C#, C++, Python, Go, modern JavaScript.
Experience interacting with clients.
Additional Skills
The following skills would make you an even stronger member of the team:
Mobile web development and design using a modern toolchain.
Basic knowledge of Google Maps Platform.
Relevant Google Cloud, Amazon, Azure certifications.
IoT or telemetry data ingestion and processing pipelines including analytics or ML.
Experience working in any of the following industries: ride sharing, ride hailing, last mile delivery, logistics. IoT and telemetry are particularly helpful.
CI/CD deployment to Cloud/containerized environments.
