The City of Zeeland has an immediate need for two part-time custodians to join an excellent facilities maintenance team to perform cleaning tasks in City buildings. This is mainly a 2nd shift position, but willingness to work flexible hours, days and shifts is required based on the needs of City facilities. Some weekend work is required. The positions are 24-30 hours per week.

Commercial cleaning experience in public facilities and cleaning equipment operation experience is a plus, but we will train the right person.

High School diploma or equivalent is required.

A valid Michigan driver’s license is required throughout employment.

Salary Range is $14.82 - $19.27 per hour.

Main Duties Include:

• Cleans and maintains offices, meeting rooms, and public areas in all City facilities. Sweeps and vacuums floors and walkways, scrubs, finishes and polishes floors and fixtures, cleans carpeting, washes walls and windows, dusts surfaces, cleans and disinfects lavatories, and removes trash and refuse.
• Travel to and from all City facilities as assigned.
• Makes minor repairs to equipment and fixtures, replaces light bulbs, and cleans drains.
• Inspects and maintains custodial equipment and tools for proper operating condition.
• Sets up, arranges, and takes down furniture and audio visual equipment for classes, meetings, and other events in City buildings. Acts as a contact for events
• Removes snow and ice from sidewalks and doorways. Apply melting and traction substances when necessary.
• Ensures proper inventory of supplies and stock room items and communicates needs to the Head Custodian.
• Opens and closes, locks and unlocks facilities as needed.
• Keeps records of projects completed, supplies used, and maintenance schedules.
• Ability to utilize power equipment for cleaning tasks as assigned
• Other duties as assigned.
