Job Description / Responsibilities
Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Performs routine and comprehensive custodial maintenance of assigned facilities.
- Vacuums, shampoos, and spot cleans carpets and furniture as needed; washes windows.
- Removes trash in accordance with established procedures.
- Cleans and disinfects restrooms, locker rooms, and other facilities as specified; stocks facilities with paper and supplies.
- Reports and response to emergency calls for custodial assistance.
- Identifies stains and uses proper chemicals for removal.
- Maintains inventory and submits written requests for supplies; tests and evaluates new supplies and equipment.
- Some custodial positions may include laundry duties.
- Must attend all mandatory continuing education/safety classes as provided by MSMU.
Uniform Requirements and Dress Code:
- It is the policy of Mount St. Mary’s University that each employee’s dress, grooming, and personal hygiene should be appropriate to the work situation.
- All Custodial Staff will be issued a uniform that must be worn each day. Employees are expected at all times to present a professional, business-like image to students, prospective students, and the public. Acceptable personal appearance, like proper maintenance of work areas, is an ongoing requirement of employment with the Mount.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED and 0-3 years of experience required.
Special Knowledge/Requirements:
- Experience in stripping/waxing floors and shampooing carpets may be required.
- Must be familiar with and adhere to all the safety rules and regulations of the University Safety policy which apply to the work environment.
- Ability to read, write and follow instructions.
- Must be able to work in adverse conditions.
- Must be able to work under pressure and with short deadlines.
- Overtime and weekends may be required.
- Must be able to work on feet all day.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Position Status:
- Hourly position.
- Full time - 40 hours per week/weekends.
- (Eligible for employee referral program).
Salary
- Minimum Pay Rate: $15.00/hour.
