Summary:

As a bench copywriter, you will edit and develop copy that helps promote and raise awareness of key issues in the environmental, healthcare, and transportation sectors. Your work will support programs and services that make life meaningful, using thoughtful storytelling to inspire action.

We are seeking an experienced copywriter to write and maintain fresh content for PRR and its clients. The right candidate will have prior marketing experience working on multiple projects at a time. In this role you will develop copy for a variety of clients in a wide variety of mediums and styles.

In this role, you will work somewhat independently, presenting your copywriting deliverables to PRR’s project team, tracking deadlines and time spent, and ensuring that the copy you create is high quality.

You have a keen eye for detail and can demonstrate how your solutions track back to client goals, audience needs, and the creative brief. You can respond to feedback and criticism with new ideas and solutions, and collaborate well with other designers, project managers, and developers.

The bench copywriter is part of a creative services team for a full-service communications firm with both government and private clients. PRR provides an environment for staff to work on interesting, challenging projects that make a positive impact on the environment, human health, transportation, and the communities our clients serve.

This is a part-time W-2 employee position with variable and flexible hours.

What You’ll Need

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of high-quality work
  • Experience working within a client’s existing voice as well as developing a new voice
  • Experience working with external and internal clients to edit and modify copy to meet content expectations
  • Reliable and able to manage all aspects of projects independently
  • Superior problem-solving abilities
  • Cope with distractions and handle numerous functions simultaneously
  • Ability to manage your own deadlines and workload

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write and develop original copy for marketing and communication materials in formats including, but not limited to advertisements (print, digital/online, outdoor, broadcast, radio, video), social media, websites, infographics, emails, blogs, and more that reflect the client’s voice.
  • Use SEO principles to maximize copy’s reach
  • Interpret creative briefs/direction and technical information and turn them into creative copy concepts
  • Research and understand the client’s needs and target audiences through online searches, reviews of existing research, and interviews with subject matter experts
  • Results-oriented with the ability to take feedback and revise copy
  • Collaborate and brainstorm with creative director, designers, content strategists, and across PRR departments to develop creative copy
  • Proof, and edit copy
  • Review work to deliver high-quality, error-free projects and communications
  • Work with project managers to meet project goals, receive client feedback, and deliver projects

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a copywriter within a collaborative environment

  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Autonomous, self-starter who asks great questions and seeks information and resources to excel in their position
  • Must be deadline-oriented and able to write successfully under tight deadlines

Salary is competitive and dependent on experience.

Part time and bench employees are eligible to accrue 1 hour of PTO for every 40 hours worked.
