Overview:
This position will plan, prep, set up, and prepare quality products in all areas of the kitchen but not limited to, the pantry, sauté, grill, and pastry, in accordance with departmental quality standards and specifications.
Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food. Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients. Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklists. Prepare cold foods. Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently. Monitor food quality while preparing food. Set up and break down workstations. Serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles. Wash and disinfect the kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food
Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Maintain and strictly abide by state sanitation/health regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Meet with supervisor/Sous Chef to review assignments, anticipated business levels, changes, and other information pertinent to the job performance.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.
  • Use equipment only as intended.
  • Always maintain positive guest relations
Qualifications:
  • Previous upscale hotel experience.
  • A minimum formal education of a high school diploma.
  • Food Handler certifications are required
  • Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Comprehend and follow recipes.
  • Excellent customer service focus and communication skills.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to walk, stand, and sit 6-8 hours per day and may have exposure to basic office supply chemicals.
  • The team member is occasionally required to climb and use balance. Additionally, they will frequently be asked to use their hands and arms to reach, carry, pull, and lift up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
