The Controller is responsible for leading various corporate accounting functions for Redbox Entertainment, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment (NASDAQ: CSSE), maintaining fiscal records, establishing and maintaining budgetary controls and procedures, and preparing financial reports in compliance with the company’s reporting requirements and operating procedures. This role maintains a partnership with leaders from Finance and other lines of business - optimizing processes, managing change, ensuring business strategies are understood and supported, and ensuring that accounting policies are implemented.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead various corporate accounting functions including Accounting, supporting Treasury, Financial Reporting and AR/AP teams, developing and maintaining financial controls, and establishing appropriate business policies
  • Direct all aspects of accounting operations, including timely and accurate general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end close, and preparation of internal management financial reports
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance for all necessary accounting policies and procedures; review line of business accounting practice to ensure GAAP compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all SEC rules and regulations. Support financial SEC filings on Forms 10-Q and 10-K. Assist in review of other filings
  • Review and update team’s SOX documentation and ensure compliance
  • Ensure the integrity, completeness, accuracy and financial statement presentation of the company’s financial statements
  • Manage the process for annual external audit; work with external auditors to enable timely review of external financial statements
  • Work closely with IT Finance Team for successful implementation, upgrades, and maintenance of financial systems
  • Manage the SharePoint site for external reporting, audit, and internal processes
  • Research technical accounting issues for new and proposed management initiatives and new accounting standards; document and present company’s position along with implementation plan
  • Prepare various financial analyses, supporting earnings release and Audit Committee schedules
  • Maintain accurate daily cash forecasting in order to make timely cash management decisions
  • Assist in providing relevant information for due diligence and re-financing efforts
  • Prepare KPI and specialized reporting for various Redbox departments
  • Provide mentoring and staff development
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the business

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; MBA a plus
  • CPA required
  • 10 + years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or financial reporting is required
  • Previous experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Current and extensive understanding of GAAP, SOX and SEC rules is required; extensive knowledge of financial governance and compliance
  • Proven leadership skills and strong decision making capabilities
  • Excellent written / interpersonal communications skills and attention to detail
  • High level of integrity
  • Must be highly dependable and demonstrate resourcefulness
  • Ability to manage projects and timelines
  • Analytical problem solving & time management skills

New York pay range:

$187,100 - $221,100 usd per year

Pay is based on nondiscriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skill and location.
