What is new with Aptar
We have an exciting position open in New Jersey: Continuous Improvement Engineer. This position will be based in Eatontown, and Lean/CI Engineers are responsible for ensuring Lean Enterprise is continuously being improved through the systematic application of Lean, CI, Six Sigma tools and completion of assigned projects. Resources and support for the tools will come from the support of designated department managers lead by the Lean/CI Engineer. The greatest opportunity for challenge and innovation will be effectively building lean culture, developing Lean Enterprise, and leading local resources to success through influence.

This is how your journey begins
  • Train workforce on problem solving, APS CI tools and other lean concepts
  • Lead lean pilot groups and coach team members
  • Lead and Facilitate cross functional CI teams on total cost issues
  • Identify, prioritize and leverage opportunities for improvement
  • Mentor Six Sigma Green Belt project owners
  • Justify new capital equipment expenditures with teams
  • Lead weekly CI meetings and track progress of all site improvement projects including: cost savings, Pipeline opportunities with savings, and other plant improvement actions
  • Create and Maintain CI opportunity pipeline with hard savings targets
  • Promote and communicate point kaizen activity internally and externally
  • Assist shop floor CI teams with statistical analysis and solution validation
  • Coordinate preparation and planning for the site’s 20 Keys objective
  • Lead / Assist Daily performance management meeting driving actions and accountability
  • Interface with regional operations CI group for external support
  • Assist in preparation of the site’s yearly cost savings and improvement plan

What you will bring on the journey
  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferred technical background with 10 plus years of experience in manufacturing

Experience and Skills:
  • Strategic thinker to lead a group team through influence.
  • Versatile in Lean and Six Sigma principles, BB or LBB certified preferred.
  • Good communicator.
  • Highly motivated and can work from own initiative within broadly scoped position.
  • Proven influencing ability and leadership qualities; Team player.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required. This position will have constant interaction with production, maintenance, and outside vendors. Must possess the ability to speak and present to groups and communicate with all levels in the plant. Capable of delivering results through a position of influence, not authority.
