Since its founding in 1972, Interfaith Works (IW) has provided extensive wraparound services to the most vulnerable residents of Montgomery County, Maryland. Our 15 interrelated and co-located programs prevent individuals from falling through the safety net, stabilize housing and financial circumstances, and empower individuals and families to lift themselves out of poverty and homelessness. Our team of 130 professionals administer programs that include emergency financial assistance, distribution of free food and clothing, vocational services, and a complete continuum of housing. Using our Lift Strategy: Prevent, Stabilize, and Empower, we support 17,000 individuals annually.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Resource Coordinator is a 40 hour position of the Interfaith Works Connections Program, which is located at the IW Essential Needs Center and reports to the Program Manager of Connections. The Resource Coordinator assesses the needs of the individual or family through the intake process, helps prioritize those needs and refers the clients to the appropriate resources throughout Montgomery County. The Resource Coordinator is also responsible for administering emergency assistance to individuals and families coping with financial crises.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work collaboratively with all lW Staff to communicate availability of Connections Services to potential clients.
  • Conduct an intake assessment of each client requesting referral services, then refer that client to the appropriate County resources to best meet their needs.
  • Maintain a current resource library of all available health and human service resources for low- income citizens of Montgomery County.
  • Maintain current data of clients served and services provided.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative partnerships with service providers in the community.
  • Administer and promote IW's emergency assistance work, including the overall operation of the Eviction Prevention and Utility Assistance programs.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings. This includes staff, providers, and Emergency Assistance Coalition meetings.
  • Provide regularly required reports as needed.
  • Help identify new sources for emergency assistance funding.
  • Flexibility to work one Saturday a month
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor degree in behavioral health with experience working with low-income households, preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Cultural awareness and basic understanding of human behavior.
  • Basic knowledge of Montgomery County resources is required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a must.
  • Experience with the principles and techniques of interviewing and basic needs assessment, preferred.
  • Dedication to working with compassion, respect and professionalism.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office365, including Outlook, Explorer, Word, and Excel.
