At the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Patuxent River, MD, SA-TECH supports the Aircraft Instrumentation Division (AID) of the Prototyping, Experimentation, and Instrumentation (PIE) Department and we are currently looking to hire a Computer Systems Analyst III (Data Scientist) to support our leadership staff to collect, organize and present organizational-level metrics and to source, gather, arrange, process and model data.
Our Data Scientist will be able to apply systems analysis and design techniques to complex computer systems in broad areas, such as manufacturing, finance management, engineering, accounting, or statistics, logistics planning, material management, etc.
Specific duties include (but are not limited to):

• Develop processes and tools to monitor data, analyze data and ensure data accuracy.
• Extract information from various sources, analyze it and display the data on a dashboard, spreadsheet, database, etc.
• Work with organization’s leadership team to identify the right metrics to capture to ensure the execution of the organization’s goals.
• Source, gather, arrange, process and model data.
• Analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
• Prepare and present data in the best forms for decision-making and problem-solving.
• Recognize probable conflicts and integrate diverse data elements and sources, and produce innovative solutions for a variety of complex problems.
• Gather information from users, define work problems, design a system of computer programs and procedures to resolve the identified problems, and write the necessary computer programs.
• Work independently while maintaining and modifying systems or developing new subsystems.
• Guide users in formulating requirements. analyze project proposals, arbitrate conflicts between users, recommend optimum approaches, and develop sound systems design.

Work Conditions:

• Conditions will vary but most work performed in enclosed buildings.
• Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching.
• Working hours are 7 am to 4 pm, M-F.

Requirements: Education/Experience/Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related computer discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
• In lieu of a suitable Bachelor's Degree, successful completion of technical school, trade school, or IT Certificate in computer programming, operations, or computer systems management and a total of 10 years' relevant experience may be substituted.

• A minimum of four (4) years' relevant experience is also required.
• Must be adaptable, be a team player and a critical thinker.
• Knowledge of various programming languages, such as Python, is required.
• Microsoft Excel expertise as well as data visualization and presentation skills are required.
• U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to hire date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
• All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
