Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interpret simulation plans in order to install and configure hardware and software in a TCP/IP network environment on systems running Microsoft Windows and RedHat Enterprise Linux operating systems.
  • Provide local and distributed live, virtual, constructive simulation and gaming training support incorporating live, virtual, and games for training devices supporting the Integrated Training Environment.
  • Support, operate, and troubleshoot simulation software and networking technologies.
  • Be proficient with current and future versions of simulation operating software and hardware fielded to the Mission Training Complex.

Qualification Requirements

  • Excellent oral and writing communication skills. Ability to communicate technical requirements and exercise preparation issues.
  • Able to obtain US Government Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to support shifts that occur outside normal working hours to support 24/7 operations during exercise events that may be in excess of 40 hours per week.
  • CompTIA Security+ CE certification or able to obtain within 180 days from hire.
  • Ability to install software, manage user accounts, construct communication files, conduct and archive backup files, conduct recovery, maintain a technical library, secure operation and storage of encryption devices and tuning system parameters for optimal functions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the configuration and operation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (versions 6 & above) workstation and server and Microsoft Windows (10 & higher) workstation and server operating systems in a TCP/IP network environment. Emphasis on Linux setup and operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in, supporting the setup, testing, documentation, and use of distributed simulations in support of training events, mission rehearsals, or experiments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Mission Command Information Systems (MCIS) set-up and use.
  • Demonstrated experience with communication protocols to include CTIA, DIS and HLA.
  • Demonstrated experience with simulation data modeling and database requirements.
  • Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures.
