Experience Tulsa understands the critical role the recruitment of individuals and companies plays in achieving GKFF’s long term goals to build a diverse, vibrant, and inclusive economy throughout Tulsa. Showcasing Tulsa to visitors previously unfamiliar with the city is a crucial component in convincing employees and employers to move to the city and gain a new positive perspective of Tulsa. With over 1,500 individuals being introduced to the city each year through GKFF LLC’s it is paramount that an organized, replicable, and consistent visit experience be curated. In addition, once those individuals relocate, retention becomes a primary focus. Developing experiences, events, and opportunities to connect across organizations, demographics, career types, and interests is crucial to bolster retention likelihood amongst both recent relocators and native Tulsans alike.

Experience Tulsa exists as a distinct and unique organization within Tulsa Remote. While any individual working for Experience Tulsa will technically be an employee of Tulsa Remote their operations and workload will be completely distinct from the Tulsa Remote team.


Position Summary

Experience Tulsa seeks a highly motivated and values-based individual to serve as the Community Manager at Experience Tulsa. This role will oversee the planning, implementation, and execution of community events and engagement opportunities throughout the Experience Tulsa ecosystem. This individual will work to create local events for native Tulsans and recent relocators to meet, engage, and build relationships. The role requires a deep love of Tulsa, its people, and sharing the city with others. The role also requires a commitment toward equity and inclusion in how we build events and showcase the city. Additionally, the ideal candidate believes in the beauty, charm, opportunity, and uniqueness of Tulsa.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Events Development and Implementation (50%)

  • Collaborate with the Director on the development and implementation of an engagement strategy to maximize assimilation and retention of recent relocators

  • Work collaboratively with key GKFF stakeholders and staff to design and implement a consistent set of engagement events and strategies (e.g. Orientation gatherings, Slack, volunteering opportunities)

  • Assist partner GKFF entities with logistics and planning of incoming conferences, large events, and summits

  • Oversee relationships and partnerships with local venues and vendors used for events.

  • Work with the Director to develop systems to track and input data regarding event numbers, attendance, etc.


Ecosystem Outreach and Connection (40%)

  • Develop relationships with recent relocators in the community through lunch, coffee, etc.

  • Serve as primary contact for individuals within the ecosystem once they have relocated to Tulsa

  • Build connections between recent relocators and connect them to existing Tulsa institutions and resources

  • Oversee communications, outreach, and follow up with recent relocators and develop a standardized communications strategy for their arrival to Tulsa

  • Get to know the city of Tulsa as well as possible and engage with new restaurants, venues, and experiences as often as possible


Ecosystem-wide Responsibilities (10%)

  • Participate in Experience Tulsa meetings and activities to support learning, development, and collaboration teamwide

  • Participate in community-based activities to gain exposure to various aspects of GKFF’s efforts.

  • Contribute to other duties as assigned


Please note: Due to the necessary public health precautions put in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. To work in person and attend in-person meetings, all team members must follow Tulsa Remote, LLC COVID safety precautions, which currently include being fully vaccinated and wearing masks in all common spaces. The vaccine requirement is subject to reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act exceptions.


Qualifications


Education and Experience

  • Completed bachelor’s degree is preferred

  • Previous experience hosting/scheduling visits, events, trips, and/or tour preferred

  • Requires sitting, walking, climbing stairs, talking (by phone, to individuals and in groups), and keyboard manipulation. Work is done both indoors and outdoors with minimal noise; must be able to focus and remain calm in crowded settings with multiple distractions


Work Environment

  • Hybrid work model - Flexible based on roles and responsibilities

  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and non-traditional hours on occasion

  • Local travel to various worksites may be required

  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required


Hours and Locations

  • Regular ability to work non traditional hours will be required

  • Primary offices will be out of 3 N Cheyenne GKFF offices
