Communications Officers develop and deliver communications to a wide range of stakeholders. They leverage a full range of journalistic, communications, and marketing techniques, platforms, and products, such as storytelling, speeches, briefings, articles, and others to inform, increase awareness, and shape the Agency's image. Communications Officers engage with appropriate teams to promote programs and initiatives and oversee informational events, to include event planning. They work on activities across the organization and the agency. Responsibilities include: - Gathering and analyzing corporate or customer requirements for communication strategies or products - Developing editorial strategy, ensures quality and cohesiveness of each day's production - Designing and executing communication campaigns and strategies leveraging a full range of communications platforms - Developing communications including writing, editing, and publishing articles - Engaging with appropriate groups to promote programs and initiatives - Overseeing informational events, to include event planning - Speechwriting - Promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality - Coaching others to create and deliver effective messages (for senior positions)

Qualifications

The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. FULL PERFORMANCE Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree and no experience. A high school diploma or GED plus 7 years of relevant experience or an Associate's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience may be considered. Degree in Communication, Marketing, Public Affairs, Political Science, Journalism, English, or Writing is preferred, although any degree is acceptable (some demonstrated experience in communication or public affairs is required if degree is not related). Relevant experience must be in the Intelligence Community/Department of Defense (IC/DoD) or in a Communications or public affairs related area (e.g., writing, marketing, or public relations). SENIOR Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 4 years of relevant experience or a Doctoral degree plus 2 years of relevant experience. A high school diploma or GED plus 10 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 8 years of relevant experience may be considered. Degree in Communication, Marketing, Public Affairs, Political Science, Journalism, English, or Writing is preferred, although any degree is acceptable. Relevant experience must be in a communications or public affairs-related area (e.g., writing, marketing or public relations). Some IC/DoD experience is preferred.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Salary offers are based on the candidate's education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work role for the position. Salary ranges vary by work level. Salary Range: $66,214 - $144,976 (Full Performance, Senior) On-the-job training, internal NSA courses and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, with basic 8 hr/day work requirement between 0700 and 1800 (flexible). Additional hours may be required.
