Position: Communication/Outreach Coordinator

Function:
In charge of communicating to the churches and faithful through outreach (personal and electronic), advertising, public relations, and traditional, electronic, and emerging media. Seeks to foster the church’s mission while enabling cross-communications between the staff, ministries, committees, and the congregation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Communications and Outreach:
  • Develop, recommend, and implement the outreach strategies for the parishes.
  • Meet with members of different ministries, staff, and committees to assess needs.
  • Meet with various age groups in the parish to assess needs.
  • Communicate information regarding the parishes, their mission, and activities to appropriate targeted audiences through existing communications such as the Sunday bulletin, email, Facebook, website, app, blog, and develop other channels as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with church leaders and staff at all levels.
  • Improve and manage the church’s website and social media.
  • Involvement and participation in the life of the church is required to give the best understanding and insight into the church and its mission.
  • To provide assistance and referrals for emergency needs; those lacking food; etc
  • Other duties as assigned.
Administrative Duties
  • Develop and manage the annual outreach/communication budget.
  • Find creative ways to promote stewardship of time, talent and treasure

Education:
Background experience in Communications and Interpersonal relations, Marketing, Public Relations, business, or related field is preferred.
Skills:
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills and excellent written/oral communication skills.
  • A knowledge of media strategies and processes.
  • Knowledge of printing and publication processes.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Needs broad understanding of marketing and mass communication utilizing current media and emerging technologies (radio, TV, print, web, social media, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse personalities and interests. Must be able to assess needs of groups.
  • Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours in relation to church events and meetings such as session or committee/team meetings.
  • The ability to work independently and as a team member, and deal with people in a professional and Christian manner.
