Eliot's Homeless Services Division is expanding! We are seeking a creative/passionate FT Commercial Sexual Exploitation Specialist to work alongside staff and leadership in Lynn, MA within an innovative continuum of support to provide structured interventions to unsheltered individuals in need of crisis stabilization around CSE, housing instability, substance use disorder and/or behavioral health/medical concerns. The CSE Specialist will work alongside Eliot's Jail Diversion Clinicians -who are integrated with the Lynn Police Department, Homeless Outreach Team (PATH), and newly opened Low Threshold Supportive Housing Site.

The successful candidate will have unwavering empathy, as well as an open mind in terms of pathways to recovery (harm reduction), ability to navigate local systems of care to support service referrals, and highly effective trauma informed engagement skills. Responsibilities:

  • Provide structured interventions for unsheltered individuals who need crisis stabilization around commercial sexual exploitation, housing instability, substance use and/or mental health. Maximize internal/external resources- in this realm across services elements. Deliver individualized, trauma informed case management to this specific population.
  • Interface with unsheltered individuals experiencing active addiction in encampments within co-response model involving PATH, JDP, and E-Nav, on sidewalks and within residential settings in order to engage them around immediate and tangible resources, viable pathways to housing, recovery from exploitation, and overall wellbeing.
  • Foster deep community partnerships, work collaboratively to coordinate care for chronically exploited, street homeless and high barrier populations (eg. SUD, CORI, documentation).
  • Recognize that homelessness is fundamentally a crisis and provide multidisciplinary outreach utilizing evidence-based practices such as Housing First and Harm Reduction.
  • Assist individuals experiencing sexual exploitation out of homelessness as rapidly as possible, and despite barriers; empowering their capacity towards self-determination.
  • Utilize Motivational Interviewing techniques to align person-identified goals around housing, recovery from exploitation and overall quality of life. Empower clients through all Stages of Change processes (eg. Precontemplation).
  • Identify any immediate safety concerns, initiating crisis stabilization work with collateral emergency service community providers as needed and applicable.
  • Cultivate a positive and productive working relationship with people served that is solution focused and based on mutual respect and trust.
  • Continue regular assessments of safety and progress tracking of work towards goals as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in the Healing Arts or related field required.
  • Lived experience with CSE, Mental Illness and Substance Use d/o with 2 years sustained recovery strongly preferred.
  • Must have a strong commitment to substance use recovery and housing first philosophy and knowledge of Harm Reduction principles.
  • Must have extensive expertise around Commercial Sexual Exploitation, either through lived experience or specialized training.
  • Must have skills to establish supportive relationships with persons with mental illnesses/substance use and respect for their preferences for treatment.
  • Ability to provide flexible services that are community based and focused on team work.
