JOB DESCRIPTION

Effectively manages the collection activities for a high volume of accounts in an assigned territory in order to maintain collection percentages and bad debt percentages as required by company policy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Secure payments for delinquent accounts by contacting and notifying customer, negotiating payment plans, sending past due letters, as well as other means deemed necessary.
  • Handle incoming calls from customers and sales team to answer questions regarding customer account.
  • Manage all interactions with customer via documenting appropriate systems.
  • Minimizes bad debt loss by assigning accounts to third party collections for further pressure as needed.
  • Provide professional and prompt customer service to external and internal customers.
  • Maintain effective work related communication with all team members.
  • Processes customer checks received internally.
  • Research discrepancies with customer accounts to obtain resolution.
  • Writes adjustments to offset errors as needed.
  • Effectively and consistently communicate with sales representatives regarding delinquent or over-extended customer accounts.
  • Any additional “at the time needed” functions deemed necessary by the Credit Manager, i.e. pulling files, re-filing completed files, obtaining documents for audits, assisting in other team members areas/jobs if needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret credit applications, and related information. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, sales representatives, collection agencies, employees, or members of credit reporting groups. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally, and in writing, with customers and sales representatives in all credit matters.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
