Yukon Construction is looking for a Project Engineer to join our Project Management team and assist with the daily operations of a project site. The new team member is required to have a minimum of 3+ years of experience in a
Project Engineer, or similar, position focused on commercial construction builds.

Job Summary:
We are looking for a self-assured, reliable Project Engineer to help oversee project development on multiple projects and act as a liaison between clients and Project Management. Our ideal candidate will possess prior experience in the commercial/residential construction field. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, a high level of organization, and strong attention to detail are essential. The Project Engineer must have the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and documents, understand product specifications, and engage with project team leaders on a daily basis.

A Day in the Life of a Project Engineer at Yukon Construction:
You’re the Project Manager’s right-hand person. Part of your responsibilities as a Project Engineer is to create requests for proposals, RFI’s, submittals, review contracts, invoices, and change orders while maintaining a fast- paced project schedule. You will oversee that all work completed by contractors and consultants is of the highest quality with safety being our highest priority. You will provide support to the Project Manager by developing and maintaining project cost/change controls, project budget, and change order estimates/negotiations.

Project Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Works alongside Project Manager and Superintendents to update and maintain project schedules.
  • Has a thorough understanding of project plans and specifications and will work with the field crews to help answer questions and engage the design team if further information is needed.
  • Manage the complete submittal process.
  • Work with the Superintendent to schedule submittals based on lead times to ensure we procure our material on time.
  • Manage the project procurement schedule prepared by the Superintendent. Audit it weekly for accuracy against the schedule, ensuring materials are on the job site at the right time.
  • Research, prepare and manage requests for information (RFI) and ensure that responses are posted to construction documents and distributed to appropriate parties in a timely manner.
  • Work alongside the Project Manager to review subcontractor change order pricing. Help to pull together complete and accurate change orders for approvals.
  • Obtain accurate pricing from subcontractors as changes in the work arise and will help manage the Owner Change order log.
  • Maintains Construction Documents and ensures that changes are posted and distributed to the correct team members.
  • Assists the project team with site safety documentation and coordination.
  • Assist the Superintendent and Foreman with the layout in the field and will be responsible for the accuracy of work in place.
  • Perform overall quality control of the work using Procore and work with subcontractors to close out quality observations in a timely manner.
  • Manage the entire turnover process including scheduling, overseeing project training, creating O&M project manuals, As-Built compilation and submittal to ownership, and assisting with the Commissioning requirements associated with the spec.
  • Assists project team with the closeout of the project including securing warranties, guarantees, and acceptance of work, subcontract and vendor close, and records retention.
  • Attend project meetings, record minutes and work with the Project Manager to capture accurate minutes through Procore, ensuring we are addressing any risk accordingly.
  • Establish and maintain healthy and positive relationships with subcontractors and owners.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other workers on the same project.

Reports to Lead Project Manager

Project Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. Or the equivalent of education and work experience.
  • Prior experience as a Project Engineer or Project Manager in the construction industry is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the residential and commercial construction industry.
  • Knowledge of basic construction means and methods, including building codes and regulations.
  • Able to read and understand blueprints (multi-family or large commercial builds)
  • Ability to read and understand Project Budgets, Project Schedules, RFI’s/RFI Log, Submittals/Submittal Log, Purchases/Purchase Logs, Client and Subcontractor Change Orders & Logs, shop drawings, CTC’s(Cost to Completes), WIP (Work in Process), shop drawings, specifications, AIA Billing Requisitions, subcontractor scopes of work, Drawings/Logs, Client Close-Out Packages, Maintenanc Manuals, As-builtDrawings, Punch Lists.
  • Must have very Strong Computer and software skills and be very fluent in the following Microsoft software: Excel, Projects, Word, Share Point, Teams, and Outlook
  • Knowledge and use of Procore or similar.
  • Understand and apply OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Able to prioritize and organize tasks and follow through with completion.
  • A high degree of professionalism, maturity, confidence, and ability to gain the respect and trust of customers and subcontractors.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as interpersonal communication skills.
  • Great time management and organization skills.
  • Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
