POSITION DESCRIPTION

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Back Server

DEPARTMENT: Food and Beverage

REPORTS TO: F&B Manager

Back Server

Summary

The Back Server will collaborate with all areas of the restaurant to help take the Food and Beverage department and guest experience to the next level.

The focus of this role will be to serve as a link between the guests and their server.This role will contribute by supporting all aspects of the Front of House service to The Dewberry standard.

Essential Functions

Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists servers in their set-up, service and clean-up tasks
  • Serves water as guests are seated
  • Making and delivering beverages
  • Assists in carrying food trays to tables
  • Removes soiled dishes from table to the dish-washing area and replace with clean linen
  • Sets tables with silverware, glassware, and other items
  • Stocks servers’ station with supplies
  • Collects soiled linen from dining room; transfers to linen pick-up area
  • Responsible for the safe and sanitary service stations
  • Polish glass, silver, and china for service
  • Fold napkins and other linens
  • Attends pre-service training (line-up meeting).
  • Retain detailed knowledge of all food items sold
  • Moves tables and chairs as needed for the next guest
  • Re-sets tables between each course and after a guest has dined
  • Cleans up spills, broken service ware and attends to similar problems during service with minimal disruption to guests
  • Maintain waste disposal area by dish room, including set-up, empty, and reset.
  • Ensure all guest and service areas are kept clean, organized, and sanitary

Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED
  • One-year high volume restaurant service experience
  • Food Safety Certification Preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of all state and federal safety standards related to food service
  • Ability to multi-task and complete assigned tasks to ensure a smooth service.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal communication
  • Dependable work ethic with a positive attitude
  • Must exude punctuality with regular and reliable attendance
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Required to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) and walk, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach
  • Ability to push, pull or lift up to fifty pounds
  • Continuous repetitive motions
  • Ability to work in hot, humid, and noisy environment
