Cloud Services Engineer

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is a national law firm with a proven reputation for providing progressive, industry-leading legal, business, regulatory and government relations advice to our regional, national and international clients.

We are currently searching for an experienced Cloud Services Engineer in our Pittsburgh, PA location. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based systems and applications. This includes working with other IT teams to optimize the use of cloud resources, implement cost-effective solutions and manage cloud-based workloads. The Cloud Services Engineer will also be responsible for ensure the security and compliance of all infrastructure assets, including implementing controls and monitoring systems.

Our Firm is currently operating on a hybrid work schedule. Employees report to the office three days per week and work 2 days remotely from home.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement cloud-based systems solutions, including laaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings
  • Collaborate with other technical staff and business stakeholders to identify and evaluate technical and business requirements for new cloud-based systems and solutions
  • Ensure that cloud-based systems and solutions are scalable, reliable, and secure
  • Monitor and optimize the performance and availability of cloud-based systems and solutions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with cloud-based systems and solutions
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other team members
  • Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to automate repeatable tasks and processes in the cloud environment
  • Use scripting languages (e.g. Python, Bash) and automation tools (e.g. Ansible, Terraform) to automate the deployment, configuration, and management of cloud-based systems and services

Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Five (5+) or more years of experience in cloud computing, including experience with laaS, PaaS, and Saas offerings
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing technologies and architectures, including public, private, and hybrid cloud models
  • Proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python, PowerShell) and automation tools (e.g. Ansible, Terraform)
  • Experience with cloud security best practices and tools
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and technologies (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing)
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g. Logic Monitor, SolarWinds)
  • Experience with database technologies (e.g. SQL)
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks
  • Certified in at least one major cloud platform preferred (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect)
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
