JOB SUMMARY: Liaison between Nursing and Information Technology to establish and maintain an effective clinical information system. Creates and updates clinical design of systems for end users. Utilizes clinical expertise to determine functions that are suitable for computer applications and to ensure the information systems are consistent with professional standards. Facilitates communication between clinical end users throughout facility, technical support staff, and vendors. Works collaboratively with other users to analyze data for internal and external reporting.

OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class III.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Education: Bachelor or Associate degree in Nursing, with emphasis in Information Technology or related field preferred.

B. Personal job-related skills: Recent experience with HIS vendor systems (HMS, CPSI, Healthland, Meditech, etc.) is desirable, with HMS experience preferred. Very strong working knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Windows operating systems, and Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel. Typing speed of 30 wpm.

C. Licensure, registry or certification: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.

D. Experience: Three years clinical nursing experience using electronic documentation.

E. Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require intermittent walking, sitting and standing. Some bending, stooping and reaching is required with the lifting of items up to a weight of 40 pounds. Ability to comprehend and follow routine written and oral instructions. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to travel as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Provide leadership to both clinical and ancillary departments to implement and maintain an effective clinical information system.

B. Develop policies and procedures pertaining to use of clinical information systems.

C. Recommend changes to improve systems and configurations.

D. Develop and lead structured end user training in all clinical areas including implementation training, new and ongoing employee training, and updates for new system enhancements.

E. Assist other Information Technology staff in troubleshooting technical issues.

F. Ability to creatively develop and maintain electronic forms.

G. Excellent communication skills and have experience working effectively with physicians, clinicians, and other support staff.

H. Successfully provide application helpdesk support to answer questions and resolve end user issues.

I. Ability to analyze both clinical technology processes as well as governmental healthcare regulations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
