Authority for direction of food and dietary services. Will provide training programs for dietary staff and ensure policies and procedures are followed. Responsible for implementing safety practices for food handling, ordering and maintenance of emergency food supplies, orientation, work assignment, supervision of work and personnel performance. Menu planning, purchase of foods and supplies, retention of essential records including cost, menus, training records and PI reports. Qualified dietician supervises nutritional aspects of patient care and approves patient menus and nutritional supplements. Performs patient and family dietary counseling. Performs and documents nutritional assessments. Evaluates patient tolerance to therapeutic diets when appropriate. Collaborates with other services, especially medical staff, nursing, pharmacy and social work. Maintains data to recommend and prescribe therapeutic diets.

Position Qualifications:

Registered Dietician with the American Dietetic Association’s credentialing agency.

Licensed Dietitian in the state of Texas.

Clinical acute care experience for minimum of one year.

Demonstrates the ability to perform the technical skills and critical thinking skills outlined in the competencies.

Demonstrates leadership and teaching.

Thorough understanding of standards of care regarding dietetic practice.

Must possess an assertive and positive personality.

Currently possess or actively working toward Certification for Diabetic Educator.

Must have Food Safety Handler Certificate recognized by Texas State Department of Health or successfully complete course within 45 days of hire date.

Prior supervisory experience.

Pay: $31.56 - $36.20 per hour
