JOB SUMMARY
Performs primary clinical audits and data abstraction for the cardiovascular specific registries while ensuring high levels of abstraction accuracy for assigned responsibilities. Demonstrates strong clinical, communication, documentation, organization, and planning skills to ensure management of multiple condition specific abstractions.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Serves are primary clinical data abstractor and educator resource for the Society for Thoracic Surgery (STS) Cardiac Surgery database.
  • Collaborates closely with clinical colleagues for data abstraction accuracy and documentation improvement opportunities
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines for abstraction and submission
  • Prepares reports with information from registries for analysis and identification of performance improvement opportunities
  • Remains current on regulations, specification, etc. as applicable
  • Provides assistance with other cardiovascular duties as assigned
JOB DETAILS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Associate's degree in Nursing- required
Bachelor's degree in Nursing- preferred
Experience:
- 3 (three) years of nursing experience- required
- 1 (one) year cardiovascular specific nursing experience- preferred
License/Certifications:
  • Active nursing license in the state of Missouri
Knowledge/Skills:
  • This role requires clinical nursing expertise of the cardiovascular anatomy and the ability to clearly communicate with providers related to the procedures performed.
  • Familiar with navigating Medical Records
  • Demonstrates a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in use of technology
