Civil Engineer – Roadway Design Engineer

EST, Inc. is currently seeking a full time Roadway Design Engineer to join our Colorado team. The position can be located in either Denver or Colorado Springs. This position will pursue and manage a variety of highway, municipal, and county design projects and lead a team of two junior Roadway designers.

Job Type: Full-time – Salary based on experience and capabilities.

The exceptional candidate selectedwill be a professional engineer who meets the minimum qualifications and has demonstrated the following capabilities and accomplishments:

  • Experience in the transportation industry with ability to bring in projects and new clients.
  • Successful experience and history in supervising, managing, and mentoring other engineers and professional staff.
  • Experience on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Highly skilled in state-of-practice design and project management software and platforms.
  • Ability and willingness to do business development and marketing.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Displays strong initiative.
  • Excellent technical writing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Project management (including planning, directing, and monitoring) of transportation projects from concept through final design.
  • Perform and/or oversee design and preparation of plans and specifications
  • Maintaining close relationships with potential clients, tracking upcoming project opportunities, and collaborating on project pursuits.
  • Business development, proposal writing and client service.
  • Recruit, supervise, train and manage workload of other engineers and professional staff.
  • Coordinate work efforts and review of work performed by project team.
  • Exercise logic and reasoning to make sound decisions that support business objectives and goals.
  • Mentor less experienced staff
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Civil / Transportation Engineer with Professional Engineer license in Colorado or ability to attain a Colorado PE license within 1 year of hire.
  • 3 or more years of roadway design experience.
  • Verifiable experience in transportation projects as a project manager/design engineer.
  • Verifiable experience overseeing development of plans, specifications, and cost estimates (PS&E) packages.
  • Knowledge of common design software, such as Autodesk Civil3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, and InRoads.
