UP Engineering + Surveying is a Civil Engineering and Surveying Firm seeking a full-time well-organized Civil Designer to join our team in our office here in San Antonio TX. (At this time we do not have any Remote Positions). The ideal candidate will be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and exhibit effective communication skills, with the motivation to adapt to industry changes and maintain a solid work ethic.

Job Description:

• Develop cost-effective design layouts based on construction specifications and requirements.
• Adhere to established design guidelines and procedures for local communities and other agencies (AASHTO, TxDOT, ADA).
• Analyze design issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform civil design analysis and calculations according to project requirements.
• Determine construction cost and material estimates based on civil designs.
• Perform site investigations and review survey data to prepare engineering drawings.
• Review project plan and determine the design feasibilities and constraints.
• Use latest software and technologies to develop effective designs.
• Maintain accurate design files for reference purposes.
• Consider health, safety and environmental requirements when developing civil designs.
• Manage design projects within allotted timelines and budgets.
• Perform design changes and improvements according to changing project demands.
• Develop engineering drawings and create sewer/drainage/water plan and profiles for the design and construction of elements as needed for commercial and residential projects.
• Work with the design engineer to incorporate site revisions and address comments from reviewing agencies
• Produce cut/fill surface to analyze sites and ability to balance sites when needed.
• Stay abreast with latest developments with civil design fields.
• Provide assistance to design and construction teams
• Training and oversight of staff with varying experience levels.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum 2-year degree in related field preferred
• Bachelor’s or Certifications preferred
• 3+ years’ experience in civil engineering/land development field utilizing

Civil 3D software required

• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• I.T. certification a plus
• Proven proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Experience with commercial and single-family residential projects a plus
• Proficiency in mathematics, analytical and critical thinking skills
• Good communication skills, conversation skills and willingness to learn
• Ability to maintain composure under pressure and work with team members in an open environment
• Comfortable with sitting for long periods of time
