Job Description
Are you an experienced Social Services professional with a passion for children? Are you committed to excellence in performance, including meeting and exceeding VA Department of Social Services performance standards? If so, the Child Care Program Supervisor may be right for you.
The Child Care Program Supervisor is a critical member of the Department of Human Services’ Social Services team. This person brings extensive knowledge of state of Virginia child care subsidy programs, as well as early childhood development and the unique experience of child care providers. The Child Care Program Supervisor leads a team of Child Care Specialists, collaborates closely with the state and other community partners, trains staff and partners, and is able to maintain compliance with federal and state regulations as they pertain to children served and financial compliance. This person takes the lead in coordinating audits and case reviews with the state. This person is responsible for the overall performance of the Child Care team in Chesapeake. This person interprets policies and designs actions for program improvement. He / she / they represent the Department on local, regional and state-wide boards and committees.

Required Qualifications
VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT : Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in early childhood development, psychology, sociology, accounting, or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this position requires a minimum of four years of related, full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: Requires a valid driver’s license and driving record in compliance with City Driving Standards.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT : Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-terms department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.

Preferred Qualifications
Virginia Social Services Child Care programs experience
Experience in overseeing performance using data and metrics
Experience with fiscal tracking and monitoring
