GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Chief Financial Officer will be a proactive and highly visible member of the Executive Leadership Team reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. In addition to interacting heavily and partnering with others on the Executive Leadership Team, the CFO will have broad responsibility overseeing all operational financial and accounting functions, including accounting, general compliance, managing ERP integrations between the company’s CRM and financial accounting systems, monthly close and financial reporting processes, budgeting and forecasting, strategic and operational planning, cash flow management, business modeling and ROI analysis, and other value added financial analysis. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires a proven leader who can support both high level complex financial responsibilities and also dive into the details when necessary, on a daily basis.

This role will work closely with the CEO and others on the Executive Leadership Team to drive the development and implementation of MedCerts’ strategic business and performance plans. The CFO will be a key business partner in continuing to drive MedCerts’ growth and will ensure the business scales profitably with that growth. The ideal candidate for this role will have had prior experience scaling a technology dependent, digitally focused business serving thousands of students/customers across numerous program offerings. The CFO should be able to demonstrate strong command in facilitating contracts, partnership and licensing agreements, regulatory agreements, and various other elements that could impact the growth and financial stability of the company.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the CEO’s strategic and operational partner in driving the financial side and growth of MedCerts
  • Regularly analyze operations to identify areas in need of improvement, reorganization, elimination, expansion, or additional investment.
  • Work with the Executive Leadership Team to coordinate planning and establish business priorities
  • Lead a team of 10+ finance and accounting professionals
  • Direct the preparation of all financial statements including income statements, balance sheets and government agency reports as needed.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting provided both to Stride, Inc. and internally to the Executive Leadership Team
  • Drive change throughout the business by providing strong, data driven, analytical leadership
  • Demonstrate a proven ability in developing robust financial models and analysis that will identify emerging trends, support decision making, and create forward looking visibility.
  • Manage the production of existing and development of new reporting tools (dashboards, scorecards, bridges, etc.) and KPIs that will deliver insight into revenue and operating expense trends, track capital project spending, headcount, and surface risks/opportunities.
  • Oversee all cash and treasury management for the business, including presenting recommendations to the CEO for investment or additional capital deployment in new services and/or products
  • Lead all review and due diligence processes related to potential acquisition targets.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting is required; CPA or CMA certification and MBA is a plus
  • Minimum of 15 years of applicable experience in roles of increasing responsibility, size, and scope in a Finance capacity of organizations that have experienced rapid growth and scaled successfully
  • Prior experience as either a CFO or senior finance leader in an educational services/Ed Tech business is a plus
  • Proven track record in successfully hiring, mentoring, and building great teams
  • Prior experience and understanding in how to operate with regulatory guidelines
  • Proven skillset in strategic and operational planning, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize large amounts of data to identify and present succinct observations and recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team and their functional leaders
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and influencing skills
  • Strong ethics – has a high personal and professional ethical standard and fosters a diverse and respectful workplace.
  • Strong computer proficiency developing complex financial and analytical models, and familiarity working with ERP systems and integrations, preferably using Salesforce and NetSuite.
  • Ability to interface at all levels of the organization and a demonstrated commitment to internal and external customer service

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is fully remote, work-from-home. This is a remote position in which work will be completed during normal business hours (approximately 8:30am – 5:00pm EST) Monday through Friday, with some weekends and/or evenings required. Some domestic travel may be required, including some overnight.
