We are assisting our client, Forward Financial Credit Union, a credit union with four locations, with the recruitment and selection of a CEO/President. Forward Financial Credit Union is committed to providing convenient, quality financial services that meet the member’s needs. This position is responsible for all functions associated with leading a $90 million financial institution and utilizing their leadership skills to assure the Credit Union’s mission and vision statements are fulfilled.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Board, in establishing and maintaining a comprehensive system of policies that ensures credit union compliance with prudent business practices, laws, regulations, and the Board established mission statement
  • Lead the credit union’s development of key strategies to produce the results needed to assure that Forward Financial not only survives, but also more importantly, thrives.
  • Remain current on market and industry trends and effectively assess risk and impact on the Credit Union. Successfully adjust plans and operations as required.
  • Establish and maintain a professional and competent management team to provide day-to-day leadership in finance, technology, computer operations, member service, branch services lending, internal auditing, security, marketing, and personnel.
  • Work to make the Credit Union a good place for people to work. This includes establishing, implementing, and enforcing a fair and equitable salary administration program. The President/CEO is to ensure all supervisors have the necessary training and skills to properly carry out this program. In addition, the President/CEO is to work to develop the skills and talents of persons directly under his/her supervision, so such persons are better prepared to realize their career aspirations.
  • Working with the management team, establish and maintain a comprehensive system of internal controls that adequately safeguard Credit Union assets and member information.
  • Working with the management team, identify, assess, and mitigate risks including asset and liability management directives.
  • Work to ensure completeness and accuracy of all financial, statistical, and accounting records of the Credit Union.
  • Direct the management team to ensure Board approved budgets, goals, and policies are attained and followed.
  • Work to set an overall ‘member first’ operating environment for all employees to follow. This ‘member first’ environment will ensure employees are well trained and have the necessary tools to provide members with quality and friendly service. It will also ensure the confidentiality of the member is always protected.
  • Keep abreast of all laws and regulations affecting the Credit Union. The President/CEO is to be active in the legislative process.
  • Work to ensure favorable audits and exam reports.
  • Participate in community affairs on behalf of the Credit Union.
  • Participate in Credit Union and cooperative activities at the state, national and chapter levels.
  • Be available to the membership so members with concerns can be heard. Work to alleviate such concerns.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • A bachelor’s degree is required. Advanced degree and/or other industry certifications preferred.
  • Broad based management experience within a midsized credit union or community bank. Knowledge of credit union operations, accounting, finance, lending, and technology is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities and the ability to think strategically.
  • Bondable.
