In business since 1935, Daubert Chemical Company is seeking an experienced* Formulator *at its chemical manufacturing plant located near Midway Airport in Forest View, IL. The Formulator operates chemical processing equipment to formulate standard or custom products according to product specifications. Main responsibilities are to follow the production schedule, follow batch sheet instructions to accurately and efficiently set up, weigh, measure, and mix raw materials in proper sequence; adding ingredients either manually or with pumps and meters; accurately record required information on batch sheet; rotate stock, track inventory, submit samples to QA. Prepare approved finished product for container, label and shipping. Overall, be adept in learning and safely executing formulating procedures for the Production Department.

  • Performs activities to safely clean, secure and maintain equipment and work areas as required. Participate in housekeeping (e.g. sweep, mop, dust, put items away in proper areas) in the facility according to 5S.
  • Follows, without exception, all work instructions, SOP’s, and safety rules, including use of all proper PPE and other safety equipment. Use of a respirator is required for certain batches.
  • Work mandatory scheduled weekday and weekend overtime as needed. Work adjusted hours as business necessitates.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned, e.g. participation in rotational safety committee.

Experience & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum 3 years chemical manufacturing experience in a batch environment with chemical reactions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude; experience with valves, pumps, flow meters, condensers, sensors, PLC's filters, etc.
  • Good problem-solving ability; makes efficient use of time within shift directives.
  • Be able to demonstrate accurate math calculations.
  • Ability to be trained and safely operate a forklift.
  • Works well within a team and able to follow specific directions.
  • Punctuality and excellent attendance are expected and required.

The worker is required to stand; walk, climb; use both hands and all fingers; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl on occasion. The worker must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Passing a respirator fitting and pulmonary fit test is required.
