Responsible for purchasing and negotiating chemcial raw materials from suppliers on a regional and global basis. An experienced purchasing professional who relies on industry knowledge and judgment to evaluate supplier quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers. A special background in the chemical industry or chemical engineering degree will be advantagous for success. Strong knowledge of the chemical industry and markets is necessary in the management of existing and new suppliers.

Purpose of Role:
Lead designated elements within a regional team to insure purchasing goals and objectives are obtained and maintained from supply base directly related to raw materials (chemicals) that support the production of Teijin products. Supports the business for growth and new wins.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Lead the development of a world-class supply base that meets or exceeds Teijin Automotive requirements.
  • Work closely with existing chemical suppliers on supply continuity, pricing, and product development in conjunction with Teijin R&D team.
  • Responsible for regional management and supplier selection based a process that entails; identifying potential suppliers, sending RFQ’s, supplier visits, total cost analysis, including full risk assessment, final negotiations on price, delivery, T&C’s, currency, and market indices resulting in the final supplier selection.
  • Working with Teijin R&D department, develop and implement best practice and procedures to ensure the optimum sourcing decisions are taken through a consistent process.
  • Establish, maintain, and grow strategic supplier relationships that promote Teijin’s global business objectives, good relations, and a positive image. To include LCC and Diverse Supplier sourcing strategies.
  • Place purchase orders with suppliers in a timely manner that follows best purchasing practices, which include QCDDM metrics, and meets the business needs.
  • Maintain pricing tables in ERP system. Reporting out all price adjustments to appropriate plants / functions.
  • Validate, via market tools, all price adjustments against contractual formulations. Using experience in chemical markets to challenge non contractual price changes.
  • Manage and resolve supplier disputes with respect to commercial and delivery issues to mitigate the potential exposure of negative cost impact on Teijin.
  • Accountable for meeting purchasing department goals and individual supplier PPV performance individually. Monthly reporting of PPV results. Support annual budget development.
  • Advise management of market conditions and supplier base activities which could affect pricing and or delivery.
  • Interacting with Teijin facilities and building strong relationships with the suppliers
  • Work closely with Teijin compounding facility on requirements for materials and forecasting
  • May participate in Supplier assessments and quality audits.
