Job Responsibilities:

• Cut, wrap, stock cheese and cheese products to maintain abundant, attractive, and accurately signed displays.
• Assist customers in a prompt, friendly, and courteous manner.
• Offer suggestions for purchases, menu planning, and ways to pair cheese with other products.
• Ensure shelves are fully stocked and rotated for freshness; current, accurate prices are displayed. Report pricing discrepancies to Prepared Foods Managers and/or Cheese Buyer
• Monitor the rotation of all food products paying particular attention to expired stock and discarding outdated or spoiled item.
• Maintain up-to-date financial records, including order guides, price sheets, and PLU lists, using approved systems
• Actively sample products to customers and get their feedback. Maintain a regular sampling program.
• Perform other tasks assigned
• Attend department and storewide meetings.
• Participate in inventory counts.
• May place product orders on occasion.

Department Maintenance:

• Ensure that unsellable items are pulled or otherwise properly disposed of, following established procedures.
• Ensure that department areas are in clean, orderly condition, meeting health department standards.
• Maintain department equipment in working order. Monitor cooler temperatures (where applicable) and follow established procedures for handling breakdowns. Advise Prepared Foods Managers and/or Cheese Buyer of equipment problems/needs.
• Receives, inspects, and logs delivery of products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality

Qualifications:

• Qualified applicants will have excellent customer service, communication, and listening skills.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple demands. Well-organized, pays attention to detail.

• Positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to be flexible in the face of changing priorities.
• Proven ability to effectively work in a fast-paced team environment.

• Retail grocery/cheese experience preferred but will train for the right person.
• Knowledge of trends in the cheese and natural foods industry.
• Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department. Daytime, evening and/or weekend flexibility required.
• Demonstrated ability to work with customers and coworkers from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to work with TCCP to create and including environment where all are welcomed.

Environmental Conditions/Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time

• Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders. Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and lift 40 pounds
• Have predictable and reliable attendance.
• Follow all appropriate standards with regards to sanitation, safe food handling practices, handling and labeling of organic ingredients, allergen labeling, and special diets.
