Job Requirements: Supervise all students to ensure a safe and organized program; Assist students with homework, projects, test preparation, and other subject-related issues.

Explore with students difficult concepts and share new approaches for understanding them; Focus on specific, teacher and parent-supported goals per student as needed; Ability to assist the youth of all backgrounds, with special concern for those from disadvantaged circumstances, and have the ability to help boys and girls develop the qualities needed to become lifelong learners.

Job Responsibilities: Attend initial screening, orientation sessions, and scheduled meetings; Communicate regularly with Site Director for support and additional resources; Serve as a role model and a resource to students in areas beyond the realm of tutoring; Keep daily attendance records / Gather participant information;

Ability to work with varied populations, such as teachers, parents, and students; Ability to work independently and with a team, under deadline; Interprets and promotes B&GC mission policies to the general public; Ability to plan, design, and implement lesson plans on a weekly basis; Prior paid or volunteer experience in tutoring.

Mentoring environment; Implements special activities, programs, and projects; Promotes self-esteem among clubhouse members; Required Skills/Knowledge: The requirements detailed below must be initially satisfied prior to final candidate consideration: State of Alaska Teaching Certificate.

Thorough knowledge of the BGCKP mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures. Proven ability to assist children in an academic environment with math, reading, and writing. Knowledge of computers and software applications. Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the Site Director, Finance Director, Executive Director and clubhouse staff, teachers and parents. Interest in any of the following: art, dance, computer, and recreation programming.
