NaphCare, Inc. has an excellent opportunity for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) division at Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Edgefield in Edgefield, SC. The Certified Medical Assistant will assist physicians in the examination and treatment of patients, and performs clinical and clerical tasks related to the administration of the office.

Position Expectations

  • Prepare treatment rooms for the examination of patients.
  • Interview patients, check vital signs, take electrocardiograms, collects and prepares specimens for shipment to medical laboratories, and telephone prescriptions to the pharmacy.
  • Schedule appointments, record and file patient charts and medical records utilizing the electronic medical records system.
  • Working under the direct/onsite supervisor, will perform venipuncture, and administer intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections (including immunizations/vaccinations).
  • Perform additional clerical duties as necessary.

Position Requirements

  • Current and valid registration as a Certified Medical Assistant in a state, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or a territory of the United States.
  • Current and valid CPR certification with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Documentation of medication administration and venipuncture competency.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience within the previous three (3) years.
  • Other specific requirements as determined by each contracted position.
