Summary

Reading Horizons is seeking educators who are enthusiastic about and experienced in supporting high-quality reading and literacy instruction in their school, district, or state. The ideal candidate is a talented independent consultant, skilled at facilitating professional learning and coaching classroom teachers. This is an excellent opportunity for retired educators and educators transitioning out of the classroom to join a mission-driven company focused on creating equitable classrooms for students, and still be part of a school community.

Job Responsibilities

• Become an expert on the Reading Horizon's approach to reading instruction by successfully completing the facilitator certification process
• Engage in internal cycle of professional improvement and learning (including being observed, receiving feedback, and being coached)
• Help to ensure equity in the classroom by delivering professional learning courses to teachers, coaches, and leaders on how to effectively implement Reading Horizons Discovery® or Reading Horizons Elevate® program to impact classroom learning
• Adjust professional learning workshops within specified parameters to fit the needs of the participants
• Meet teachers where they are and provide tailored on-site support to teachers, coaches, and leaders. This may range from providing pacing support to helping educators analyze data and apply it to instruction, to working with leaders to identify evidence of implementation successes and challenges
• Track and submit detailed reports, as well as complete all assignments in a timely manner
• Present a professional image at all times to customers and prospects

Education Qualifications

• Five or more years teaching, coaching, or leading educators with a focus on literacy/reading
• A track record of strong facilitation of professional learning with large groups and diverse audiences; ability to build rapport quickly and establish self as an expert
• A track record of success with coaching in diverse classroom settings
• Ability to be nimble and adjust facilitation to meet participants' needs, to welcome and implement performance feedback, and to apply a growth mindset to the work
• Experience working with virtual teams preferred
• Willingness to collaborate closely with other facilitators and Reading Horizons staff in serving partners
• An ability to join consultant training and engage deeply in self-directed virtual learning

Other Requirements

• Certified Facilitator contractors are scheduled on an as-needed basis, during normal school hours.
• Must have their own transportation as this role requires considerable travel at times. Travel including overnight travel required.
• Proven experience and success in building and creating positive customer experiences.
• Self-starter, multitasker, and result-oriented individual who can develop new ideas, and implement and track them.
• Strong leader and collaborator to further the impact of our products and services in K-12 classrooms.
• Excellent computer and internet skills including knowledge of Google Docs and Google Sheets; knowledge of online meeting programs (e.g. Zoom/WebEx) a plus
• Present a professional image at all times to customers and prospects
