CCE Summer Associate VISTA III Job at AmeriCorps
The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) at the University of Arkansas Fayetteville is seeking a summer associate VISTA member to serve with the Full Circle Food Pantry (FC), Razorback Food Recovery (RFR), and student engagement programs to expand food assistance models, the programs’ participation in the regional food system, and to assist with minority, first generation, and other marginalized populations transition to campus. The CCE mission is “Empowering students to become engaged citizens through service, experiential learning, and practicing social value.” The CCE is a department of the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Arkansas and is home to the Volunteer Action Center (VAC) student group. CCE staff advises and facilitates the work of the VAC, which includes these signature programs; Jane B. Gearhart Full Circle Food Pantry, Razorback Food Recovery, Dream BIG: Believing in Girls, PAL: Passionate about Literacy, Be BOLD: Brave, Outstanding, Loving, Determined, and Student Engagement. The CCE is seeking a summer associate VISTA member that will directly serve to expand and strengthen food assistance programs and student engagement programs within the Volunteer Action Center and the Center for Community Engagement with the overall goal of serving marginalized communities and alleviating poverty in the Northwest Arkansas Community. The Summer Associate will focus on serving two main areas: the full circle food pantry and razorback food recovery to expand food assistance. Student engagement through orientation and welcome weeks to assist with minority, first generation, and other marginalized populations transition to campus.

Member Duties : The summer associate VISTA duties will include serving with the FC food pantry. The VISTA will assist with pantry operations: fulfill pantry orders, monitor inventory, and process donations. The VISTA will serve with RFR: assist with food recovery collections from partners, and delivery of recovered food to partners. The VISTA will assist with the upkeep of the FC garden. The VISTA will guide the creation of a summer garden for the FC garden. The VISTA will serve student engagement summer programs and orientation services through welcome weeks designed to connect and expand volunteer knowledge of poverty alleviating agencies. The VISTA will assist and improve minority, first generation, and other marginalized populations orientation, welcome weeks, and on-boarding experiences. The VISTA will guide the creation of an assessment to measure factors related to summers programs effectiveness and engagement.
