Provide supervision and strategic direction to the HIV Medical Case Coordinators and services.

Essential Job Functions
  • Manage, plan, organize, schedule, assign, train, evaluate, counsel, and discipline medical case managers.


  • Monitor workload of staff activities, ensure quality performance, and offer operational support.

  • Cooperatively manage resources throughout the Central Missouri region (37 counties) to administer and supervise HIV Medical Case Management services through a comprehensive, collaborative network that includes utilization of community-based service organizations.

  • Collaborate with HIV Medical Case Management agencies across the state to coordinate the delivery/transfer of Department of Corrections detainees upon re-entry to the community.

  • Provide strategic direction for HIV medical case management.

  • Develop consistent and cohesive Medical Case Management policies and procedures.

  • Assess and evaluate Medical Case Management system needs.

  • Respond to changing local, state, and federal requirements and anticipates future needs.

  • Serve as an advisory group to the Department of Health, Ryan White Parts A, C, and D Grantees, Healthcare Strategic Initiatives, etc.

  • Participate in hearings conducted by the Missouri Department of Social Services where the client’s denial appeal is based in the case managers denial of authorization for Waiver services.

  • Serve as a content expert on HIV and HIV case management policies and practices.

  • Promote and support continuous improvement, including contract monitoring and service deliverables.

Ancillary Job Functions
  • Data entry and records management.


  • Ensure compliance with documentation in accordance with grants and contracts.

  • Generate reports.

  • Accompany coordinators into Dept of Corrections facilities.

  • Create processes to promote efficiencies.

  • Participate in training and professional development regularly.

  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and client standards.

  • Data entry and records management.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Health Education, Nursing, Public Health, Sociology or related human service field.


  • Minimum of one-year relevant experience in one of the above fields.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

  • Experience locating, coordinating, monitoring services, and knowledge of the available health and psychological services needed for individuals who are HIV infected.


  • Knowledge of case management (medical and non-medical); HIV, hepatitis, and substance use prevention or service coordination with the target population.

  • Understanding of HIV, both as a chronic disease and as a communicable disease; knowledge of the principles and practices of quality improvement, performance management, and contract adherence.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of quality improvement and performance management.

  • Leadership and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to direct, supervise, hire, and evaluate subordinate personnel.

  • Ability to review the work of self and others and take corrective action.

  • Ability to practice independent judgement based on knowledge of best practices.

Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job
  • May be required to drive in inclement weather and traffic conditions.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
