Do you want to spend a paid summer in Alaska? Join us at Camp K for fun at one of Alaska's most beautiful sleep away camps in Cooper Landing. Just two hours South of Anchorage, our camp is located on the beautiful Kenai Peninsula. No outdoor experience is required, just a love for camp! If you want to build an inclusive and loving community at our camp, this is a perfect job for you! Housing and meals are included for the entire season.*

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Camp K Counselor will be responsible for the 24-hour supervision and guidance of a cabin group of campers, working with other counselors to facilitate a variety of age appropriate activities. They will need to communicate effectively with camp leadership to identify camp needs, maintain positive relationships with all camp participants (employees, campers, families, etc.), uphold high standards of health/safety, and promote/instruct all emergency procedures for a variety of different emergencies (fire, weather, missing person, wildlife encounters, etc.). The Camp K Counselor resides with campers on the premises of Camp K in the Chugach National Forest for weekly sessions during the summer season and engage in work that supports Camp Fire’s Promise to provide youth with the opportunity to find their spark, lift their voice and discover who they are.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age, is required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting
• Current Adult/Pediatric CPR, AED & First Aid Certification from a nationally recognized provider, required.

Preferred:

• Prior experience working with youth is preferred, preferably in a camp setting
• Experience working with diverse populations: multi-cultural, age, gender, experience with special needs population preferred.
• If 21+, valid Driver’s License and eligibility to drive agency vehicles with ability to drive and maneuver 16 passenger vans and trailer in tow, is preferred.
