Reporting to the Procurement & Costing Manager, the Buyer will manage the on-time delivery of material procurement and outside processing service to meet the greater of forecast or customer order demand (and MRO requirements) while optimizing on hand inventory and maintaining favorable PPV.

Responsibilities:

§ Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following company safety procedures. Contribute to a Safety First Culture by identifying Risky Situations.

§ Initiate supplier PO contracts from approved requisitions (Blanket and Discrete Orders - Oracle).

§ Negotiate supplier discrete order promise dates, root cause late deliveries and initiate supplier corrective actions.

§ Convey all critical conformance requirements submitted by Supplier Quality Engineer to suppliers with each PO.

§ Administer PO changes related to MRP reschedule messages and ECO disposition actions.

§ Submit RFQs to suppliers as required and implement strategic pricing opportunities initiated by Sourcing Mgr.

§ Schedule to optimize inventory levels and cost-effectively disposition excess and obsolete.

§ Report premium freight charges, opportunities to charge back and costs recovered.

§ Maintain contractual relationships with approved suppliers maintain price stability through tactical negotiation and escalate pricing increases to Sourcing Manager.

§ Identify opportunities for cost effective supplier services, deploy tools and process improvements for material delivery.

Qualifications:

§ Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) from four year College or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Plus 5+ years of Purchasing / Planning experience in inventory planning (MRP messages and non-MRP triggers) experience.

§ Experience includes business reviews of supplier on-time delivery, PPV and conformance.

§ Cost-Effectively disposition E&O.

§ Follow ISO procedures & policies regarding new suppliers, supplier metrics, RFQs and conformance.

§ Read Engineering drawings, critical specifications and cost-effectively disposition ECOs.

§ Proven negotiating skills specific to achieving favorable prices and services

§ Analytical, communication, interpersonal, team development, project management and technical skills

§ Candidates must be US citizens or hold permanent residency status.
