JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Business Office Assistant is responsible for assisting with the operations of the Business/Social Work Departments, including general, administrative, accounting, and clerical functions, and other duties as asked.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific developmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents in business office functions.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to carry out business functions for residents with the following needs: therapeutic, neuro, and dementia, dialysis, IV therapy, and infectious diseases, if applicable.
  • Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in work schedule to resident and family needs.
  • Prepares and balances daily census changes, and completes notices for admissions/discharges/transfers, and room changes.
  • Prepares Medicaid admission/discharge/transfer notices with appropriate paperwork attached.
  • Assists with collection calls designated by the Business Office Manager and logs all conversations.
  • Maintains the integrity of the business office non-medical files as needed.
  • Interacts with residents, family members, co-workers, and clinical and ancillary staff in a non-judgmental, supportive, and calm manner and other assignments as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possesses a High School Diploma.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Accounting experience required. Experience with computer systems preferred.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license and has an automobile for job-related travel.
  • Possesses strong communication and organization skills.
  • Must meet health assessment requirements, including a two-stage Mantoux skin test.
  • Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, and possesses sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required.
