We have an exciting Sales opportunity in our Food Service Division in Quebec as Business Development Manager. This is a fully remote role where the home office is in Quebec and is responsible for
leading all facets, both direct and indirect, of our $18MM business in the province of Quebec and leads the 3rd largest Canadian distributor, Colabor ($6.6MM), as well as several strategic chain accounts, negotiating at the most senior levels. This role has responsibility for one direct report, located in Quebec City.
Specific accountabilities of this role:
Operator/Chain Management
  • Achieve annual new case target of 10,000 cases
  • Management/achievement of annual operating plans for top regional/national accounts (Foodtastic, MTY, IGA (HMR), Metro(HMR), Couche Tard, Subway QC)
  • Successfully negotiate strategic agreements with top regional/national accounts at the executive/senior leadership level
  • Influences purchasing decisions with key decision makers at top accounts
  • Provide solutions through new product launches, recipe ideas, ideation sessions
  • Negotiates at senior executive level for realization of line price increases and account profitability
  • Process contracted payments on time and in regular intervals
  • Track existing sales accurately for decision making and future planning
  • Identify new opportunities both with existing accounts and new accounts
  • Execute joint business planning with top accounts
Distributor Management
  • Management/achievement of annual operating plans for the Quebec market $18MM
  • Full responsibility for Colabor ($6.3MM), their sites and affiliates
  • Negotiate sales agreements distribution with senior leaders
  • Develop and achieve annual distributor sales targets
  • Develop and present quarterly business reviews and brokerage reporting
  • Actively participate in sourcing and executing Distributor Sales Rep training opportunities
  • Promote new product launches and gain product listings
  • Develop and lead effective trade show strategies
  • Partner with distributor merchandising sales and marketing leads to create new volume opportunities
  • Manage and approve all distributor deductions
  • Work closely with Customer Care Team for order tracking, credit limits, delivery issues
People Management
  • Lead a team consisting of a single Account Development Manager in Quebec City
  • Create and execute annual operating plan and support the achievement of annual sales targets
  • Provide guidance around customer negotiations with respect to pricing, trade deals and marketing support to achieve desired profitability
  • Provide guidance and support in the creation annual objectives (OKR’s) and execute timely check-ins to measure progress of objectives
  • Provide coaching on lead generation, cold calling and securing new opportunities to pursue
  • Support career development of direct report
Sales Reporting
  • Consistent and effective use of LinC (CRM) to document all pertinent customer data, opportunities, wins, risks and losses
  • Create and maintain contract tracker reports
  • Create and maintain contracted account volume reports
  • Create and maintain Exceedra reporting, operator claims
Forecasting & Insights
  • Develop and maintain a monthly forecast projection to assist in the overall Eastern Canada forecast
  • Gathering and organizing insights from Sales & Marketing teams
  • Providing weekly insights on month end to the Director of Sales
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Minimum of 5 years of Sales experience in Food Service, people management experience an asset
  • Effective interpersonal skills & ability to build strong business partnerships both internal & external.
  • Effective communication & presentation skills
  • Effective negotiation & influencing skills
  • Effective product & strategy knowledge
  • Effective time management & prioritization skills
  • Emerging proficiency in MS Office
  • Effective use of SAP, Exceedra, LinC
  • Fluent in both French and English (written & oral)
  • Strong understanding of consumer and industry trends
