NDDOT Hiring Salary: $8,112 / month

This position is eligible for telework from Bismarck, North Dakota with in-person work duties and meetings required.

Summary of Work

At the North Dakota Department of Transportation, we owe our success to our people and processes. As the Bridge Management Team Lead in the Bridge Division, you will lead and supervise the NDDOT Bridge Management Section and must exhibit strong leadership skills to mentor and provide for professional development. You will motivate and inspire your team by creating an environment that promotes positive communication, encourages team member bonding, and demonstrates flexibility. The ideal person for this position will be a problem solver with excellent communication skills and attention to detail with previous experience in managing a team. This position will supervise the following sections and programs:

  • Bridge Management Section, prioritize and assign work to meet deadlines and goals. Determine and recommend appropriate training and assess technology needs. Address employee issues and evaluate employees.
  • Load Rating Program to ensure compliance with CFR and 23 Metrics. Provide guidance on load rating policies and procedures and manage policies to ensure local and state structures are posted as required. Ensure that overload permits are being processed accurately and timely.
  • Bridge Management System, supervise the development, customization, and implementation of the AASHTOWare Bridge Management software program. Assist in updating the Transportation Asset Management Plan (TAMP). Supervise the development of bridge performance measures and help to provide bridge data as requested.
  • Bridge Scoping Program, supervise the scoping process for stand-alone bridge projects and bridges on corridor projects. Ensure scoping reports and cost estimates are accurate. Coordinate the development of the NDDOT Bridge Scoping process to further improve efficiency.
  • Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), assist with the development, organize information from BrM and inspections to determine priorities and enter into system. Coordinate to deliver Urban Priorities.
  • Bridge Preservation Program, research and recommend practices to extend the life of NDDOT bridges. Coordinate to implement the preservation program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Registration as professional engineer in North Dakota
  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil or construction engineering from an ABET accredited college.
  • Requires a class D driver’s license for travel to meetings and project locations.
